Our workshop

Our manufacturing

Epic Trace was born from a simple belief: an adventure experienced deserves a tangible object, not just a trace on a screen. Each custom topographic relief is designed, printed, engraved, and assembled in France, on demand, based on the exact configuration you validate in the configurator.

Designed, printed, engraved, and assembled in France. A creation made to order, combining artisanal craftsmanship with 3D printing.

Made after your order

We do not manufacture in advance. Your relief does not exist until you create it: it is prepared from your design, then printed for you.

This explains our lead time—and it is also why no two Epic Trace pieces are exactly alike.

The steps

1. Preparation of the relief

We start with the configuration you validated: the area, the framing, the format. The relief is prepared for printing.

2. Preparation of the trace

If you used a route, your trace is prepared in the color you chose, on the light or dark gray relief you selected.

3. 3D printing

The piece is printed in our workshop. Depending on the format, printing takes from several hours to more than a day.

4. Engraving

If you chose engraving, your text is engraved exactly as you entered it.

5. Assembly

The relief is mounted on its oak base. The base is made with a partner.

6. Quality control

Each piece is inspected before we prepare it for shipment: condition of the relief, sharpness of the trace, engraving, integrity of the assembly, and functionality of the chip if applicable.

Small batches

We work on a made-to-order basis, in small batches. This is a choice: it allows us to maintain control over each piece and truly personalize them, rather than offering a static catalog.

During periods of high demand, this production method may extend our lead times. We prefer to tell you this rather than promise a date we would not meet.

What we do not claim

We prefer to be precise about what we do.

  • The relief is a decorative topographical representation. Vertical exaggeration may be used to make it more legible and aesthetically pleasing. It is not a navigation tool or an exhaustive scientific model.
  • The oak base is made with a partner, not in our workshop.
  • The design, printing, engraving, and assembly are carried out in France.

What about the 3D file?

We sell a physical object, manufactured and shipped. The 3D file is neither sold nor transmitted.

3D printing

From digital to physical

Your relief is prepared in our workshop from topographic data of your chosen area, then 3D printed. Ridges, valleys, and your tracks are precisely reproduced — 3D printing makes this level of detail possible on a single piece.

  • Preparing the relief and paths from your validated project
  • High-quality 3D printing: precise details, faithful reliefs
  • Each piece is custom-made, in small batches
The oak base

A foundation that carries history

Each relief is mounted on a solid oak base, made with a partner. If you choose engraving, your text — a first name, a date, a time, an altitude, the name of a race — is finely engraved into the wood before assembly.

  • Solid oak: a dense, durable wood that engraves well
  • Optional engraving: two lines of 40 characters, provided by you
  • Base made with a partner, assembled in our workshop
Quality control and shipping

Checked before leaving

Before shipment, each piece is inspected: adherence to the approved design, print quality, engraving, and assembly. Your order is generally shipped within 7 to 15 business days after your design approval and payment — and if an unforeseen event extends this period, we will notify you immediately.

What you receive corresponds to what you approved in the configurator: the 3D preview is our visual contract. The physical appearance and colors may differ slightly from what is shown on screen, but the terrain, framing, and traces will be those of your project.
