How to immortalize a triathlon with up to 3 GPX tracks?

How to immortalize a triathlon with up to 3 GPX tracks?

A triathlon doesn't tell just one story.

It tells several.

A track in the water. A track on the bike. A track on the run.

Three different disciplines, but one single adventure.

When the event takes place in a hilly, mountainous, or coastal environment, the terrain itself becomes a significant part of the memory.

Epic Trace allows you to combine up to three GPX tracks on a single topographical creation to materialize this adventure.

Why is triathlon particularly well-suited to a relief map?

Some triathlons are inseparable from their environment.

A lake surrounded by mountains. A long climb on the bike. Roads that hug the coast. A course that crosses several valleys. A run with elevation gain.

In these situations, a classic map only tells part of the story.

The relief map immediately shows the terrain on which the event took place.

It's this dimension that makes the creation particularly interesting.

Up to three GPX tracks

Epic Trace allows you to integrate up to three GPX files into a single creation.

For a triathlon, these can correspond to:

  1. swimming;
  2. cycling;
  3. running.

Depending on how your watch or app recorded the event, these disciplines may be available as separate files.

They can then be combined into a single project.

The relief then allows you to visualize the entire area and how the different disciplines fit into it.

Hilly or mountainous triathlons are particularly interesting

Not all courses produce the same visual result.

A triathlon taking place in a very flat region can naturally be represented, but topography adds less information there.

Epic Trace truly comes into its own when the event involves distinctive terrain.

For example:

  • a cycling section with several passes;
  • a hilly run;
  • a start in a mountain lake;
  • a coastal route;
  • an alpine event;
  • a route passing through several valleys.

In these cases, the relief becomes almost a second way of telling the story of the race.

The track shows where you went. The relief shows what you went through.

That's the whole difference.

A line on a map allows you to follow a route.

But it doesn't immediately show the difficulty of the terrain.

In three dimensions, an ascent becomes visible. A massif takes shape. A valley appears. A long bike climb can be understood at a glance.

The course ceases to be abstract.

A creation that tells the story of the whole day

A triathlon event is often associated with very different moments.

The start in the water. The first transition. The long hours spent on the bike. A particularly difficult climb. The second transition. Then the final kilometers.

Bringing the different tracks together allows these memories to be placed within a single geography.

The final object therefore doesn't just represent a performance.

It tells the story of the territory in which the adventure took place.

Personalize the base with laser engraving

The relief is mounted on a solid oak base.

This can receive personalized laser engraving on a maximum of two lines.

Some examples:

or:

or simply:

The engraving can include the few pieces of information that mean the most to you.

Which format to choose?

Epic Trace offers three formats.

S — 10 × 10 cm

A compact creation suitable for a small space.

M — 15 × 15 cm

An intermediate format offering more space for the course and the relief.

L — 20 × 20 cm

The largest format, particularly interesting when the represented area is vast or when multiple tracks need to remain legible.

The choice mainly depends on the geography of the event and the desired framing.

Is it mandatory to use all three tracks?

No.

A creation can include one, two, or three GPX tracks.

For example, you can choose to represent only the cycling section if it's the core of the event.

In a mountain triathlon, a long cycling loop can sometimes be enough to tell the essence of the adventure.

You can also create a relief map without a GPX track and simply highlight the event region.

A souvenir for yourself or a gift idea

An Epic Trace creation can be made to preserve your own memory.

But it can also be given as a gift.

For a triathlete who has completed an important event, it's a gift directly linked to what they actually experienced.

It doesn't depend on a brand of equipment or a size.

It simply tells the story of the adventure.

Our suggestions and frequently asked questions are gathered on the personalized triathlon gift page.

This can be particularly suitable for:

  • a first triathlon;
  • a long-distance event;
  • a goal prepared for several months;
  • a race completed with loved ones;
  • a triathlon in a spectacular region;
  • an event marking a significant personal milestone.

Make the memory last beyond the finish line

Once the race is over, GPS files usually join previous activities in an app. If you're new to the concept, start with our guide: how to transform a GPX track into a personalized topographical relief map.

But some days deserve a different place.

A relief map allows you to preserve this memory in a physical form and to see, at a glance, the terrain on which everything unfolded.

Three disciplines. Up to three tracks. One relief. One adventure.

Give relief to the triathlon you don't want to forget.
